Process

As a child I picked up a pencil before a camera; a solace and my first creative tool, it continues to be a way for me to consider composition, aesthetics and questions of light and shadow.

I use a range of different mark making techniques to create my images. Sometimes beginning with a pencil or charchoal drawing or sometimes going straight into the lino block or copperplate as seen above.

With the printing process, each plate is prepared indivdually meaning every print is unique. Inks are rubbed in and removed to increase contrast.
